Gerard Fox Law Congratulates Law Clerk Trevor Maxim on Being a Finalist in the 2017 ELI Writing Competition

Gerard Fox Law Proudly Congratulates Law Clerk and former Summer Associate Trevor Maxim on being a Finalist in the 19th Annual Entertainment Law Initiative Writing Competition!

The Entertainment Law Initiative Writing Competition is a prestigious essay writing competition open to law students across the country.  Students are asked to submit up to 3,000 words on a legal issue facing the music industry.  Trevor wrote his essay on the interaction of fair use and the DMCA, from the perspective of a record company. His essay was titled “Giving Copyright Holders a Fair Shake: How The Music Industry Can Manage DMCA Takedowns Under Lenz".  As a finalist Trevor was awarded a $1500 cash prize and tickets to attend the Grammy Foundation’ Entertainment Law Initiative Luncheon & Scholarship Presentation, the Musicares Person of the Year concert, and the 59th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony on February 12, 2017.  The Recording Academy's Press Release can be found here and is available for download here
